I am coaching a u16's Boys Basketball team for the localYMCA and as my team is only allowed to practice once a week. I am having a hard time finding an easy to learn offense that works well against a 3-2 zone or 2-1-2 zone defense. Could you please offer some suggestions with my problem? |

Line up in a 1-2-2 balance and flash the weak side low post man to the elbow vs. the 3-2 and look to attack the middle with the shooters on the wings and the low post man either stepping middle of the paint or out to the short corner. On a skip pass or change of sides have the high man go low and screen for the wing who received the first pass and now cuts to the corner. The original low post man now flashes high and can receive in middle or screen the top guard for a flare pass to the point. Vs. the 2-1-2 use the same alignment and have the weak side low post flash to the 3 point line and get a 4 out look. He can set an on ball, receive to change sides of the floor, or screen the back side of the zone. Posts will exchange positions on the changing of sides. Always look to dribble penetrate the seams and ball fake often. Patience will result in a good opportunity with the final emphasis on attacking the offensive boards. |
